Shelby C. Herbkersman

About

Shelby was born and raised in Bluffton, SC. After spending 10 wonderful years in Columbia, SC, she moved to Greenville, SC in 2020. Shelby enjoys traveling, meeting new people and exploring new places. She is a certified scuba diver and has plans to get her pilot's license in the near future.

Shelby attended the University of South Carolina for both undergraduate and law school. Throughout undergraduate school, Shelby worked as a page at the South Carolina State House. What she thought would be simply a resume building internship turned out to be the beginning of her relationship with the law. By the time she graduated in 2014, Shelby knew she wanted to work professionally in that environment and be part of the legislative process. Soon after graduation she was employed by a lobbying firm and became passionate about her work as a lobbyist. This passion made her to want to go to law school so that she could be the most effective lobbyist possible. However, one short semester in law school and she realized how vast law is, and her goals soon changed. Shelby no longer has an interest in being in the lobby, not for a while at least, but would prefer to represent clients in a courtroom.

Before joining Clawson & Staubes, Shelby was a law clerk for the Honorable L. Casey Manning in Richland County Circuit Court. Being in the courtroom and working on everything from murder trials to car accident cases only further solidified her drive to advocate for her clients in and out of a courtroom.
